Pantone has named its 2019 color of the year, and celebrities certainly aren't waiting around for Jan. 1 to indulge in it. According to the color experts, the new year's reigning hue will be Living Coral, a cheery cross between orange and pink. And if you're looking to stock up on the next it-color, Lucy Hale's coral sweatshirt is the perfect place to start.

The newly announced color of the year is inspired by nature. Pantone calls it "an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge." The bright and chirpy color symbolizes "our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits," Pantone says.

On Tues., Hale sported the color — whether intentionally or not — during an outing in Los Angeles. She tucked her casual coral crewneck sweatshirt into a pair of black wide-leg, drawstring trousers and Gucci tennis shoes. Overall, the Pretty Little Liars actor's ensemble was the perfect off-duty look.

Hale's pop of coral was rather subtle, but other celebrities have been wearing the color in full force lately. Only a week before Hale's outing, Gigi Hadid wore an all-orange outfit complete with a bright leather trench. Days later, Jennifer Lopez sported the same color from head to toe, too. The singer wore another poppy-toned jacket over a strapless dress with matching heels and orange-lens aviator glasses.

The bright and sunshiny hue screams summertime, so it's an unexpected palette to work into your winter wardrobe. Hale's understated sweatshirt, however, is the perfect way to wear coral in the colder months.

The 29-year-old paired her cozy jumper with black pants, but this color works well with navy blue and a classic leopard print, too. Add edge to your orange sweater with a leather jacket or class it up by tucking it into plaid trousers for a super-trendy look.
