Meghan Markle & Beyonce Had The Most Stylish Moment At "The Lion King" Premiere
The London premiere of the live action Disney film The Lion King took place on Sun., and you can bet it was one stylish affair. Stars from the U.S and the UK descended upon Leicester Square for the red-carpet event, and all looked like pure elegance. But the most talked-about moment from The Lion King's opening night was when Meghan Markle and Beyoncé met. That's right, the utterly royal encounter — i.e., Queen Bey meeting the Duchess of Sussex — is one that's sure to go down in the (sartorial) history books.
Markle has been hitting the event circuit much more as of late, which means fans of the American princess have been in for a consistent stream of top-notch fashion inspiration. The duchess made not one but two stylish appearances at the 2019 Wimbledon tournament, first solo and then with sister-in-law Kate Middleton and Kate's sister, Pippa Middleton. But on Sun. evening, Markle stepped away from the court-side stands and on to the yellow carpet for the London premiere of The Lion King (which is set to be released everywhere on July 18).
For her first red-carpet outing since welcoming baby Archie into the world, Markle turned to one of her all-time favorite designers. The duchess stunned in a black mid-length Jason Wu dress, which featured an elegant rounded neckline, a fitted waist, and a mesh upper. But the dress' designer wasn't the only familiar thing about her look.
For the Sun. evening outing, Markle slipped into her go-to shoes of choice: a pair of Portrait of a Lady pumps by Aquazzura (complete with a crystal-embellished slingback strap), but this time in a classic black color-way rather than her usual navy blue.
Beyoncé, who's the voice of Nala in the upcoming Disney film, showed up in an ensemble that had Grecian goddess written all over it. The music icon wore an off-the-shoulder, custom-made gown by Cong Tri, designed with a daring side slit and an extra-long train. She tied the look together with metallic Jimmy Choo heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry that sparkled.
But Markle and Beyoncé's The Lion King premiere style wasn't even the most talked-about facet from Sun.'s event. The moment that sent the world into an absolute frenzy was when the two met, greeting each other with a warm embrace and gushing about their children.
It seems Beyoncé is just as smitten with the royal family's newest addition as you. According to People, the singer told Markle that Archie is "so beautiful," before Jay-Z shared some words of wisdom with the new parents. "The best advice I can give you, always find some time for yourself," he said. Great style and great advice — now's that's an evening well spent.
