Naomi Campbell Just Dressed Up Her Nike Sneakers In The Chicest Way
Naomi Campbell just channeled Anna Wintour with the printed maxi she wore in Italy but instead of the fashion editor's favorite leather boots, this model wore hers with a pair of cool-girl tennis shoes. Her '70s-style dress was a surprisingly good match for the rainbow-colored footwear, too. Let this be a lesson in elevating Nike sneakers the chic Naomi Campbell way.
When in Rome, go ahead and wear athletic shoes with everything — that's this runway veteran's theory. The model just celebrated her 49th birthday and the ensemble she sported in Italy proves she's just as much of a trendsetter now as she was 20 years ago.
Campbell was spotted shopping around the country's capital in a flowy floral maxi on Tues. The groovy print was reminiscent of one Cher might have approved of back in the day. Of course, she added her own little fashion-forward twist to the look, courtesy of a bold pair of multicolored Nikes.
The shoes in question are a collab between the famous athleticwear brand and Japanese luxury fashion brand sacai. In fact, the sneaker world has been anticipating this drop for months and Campbell is one of the first to take them out for a spin.
Her sneakers — dubbed the LDWaffle — are a hybrid between two iconic Nike silhouettes, the Waffle Daybreak and LDV. They come in two colorways: Campbell's lime green with yellow patchwork and a tangerine swoosh, and another red, yellow, and blue version. Both become available on Nike's website Thurs.
As you already know, neon is in and these bold tennis shoes incorporate all the color trends du jour. Although the vivid hues are bold in nature, Campbell's latest look is proof that neon isn't always synonymous with edgy — not even when you channel it into chunky sneakers.
Her floral-print dress makes them look incredibly chic. Now that you know how to style them, snag some of your own (including the model's exact pair, dropping in just two days), ahead.
