Nicole Kidman Just Wore Her Blazer In A Very Unconventional Way
Mark your calendars for June 21, because that's the day when the sun will be farthest north, also known as Summer Solstice (aka the first official day of summer). That means you still have a few weeks left to perfect your warm-weather wardrobe, but if you're in need a bit of inspiration to get your outfit wheels turning, look no further than Nicole Kidman's effortlessly chic summer style. The actor just served up one of her best ensembles of the month — and it gave a glimpse of what you can expect from the actor's fashion moments in the coming weeks.
Kidman stepped out early Weds. for a brief appearance on Good Morning America, where she discussed all things Big Little Lies season two (which is set to air on June 9). In fact, her co-stars are busy running around New York City promoting the show, too, so you can bank on a lot more mention-worthy looks from the leading ladies of HBO's hit series over the next few days.
As per usual, Kidman managed to piece together an outfit that felt refined and classic yet still trend-forward — a dressing approach that's quickly become her signature. The actor looked the definition of pretty in pink in a silk, rose-colored dress that was designed with an asymmetric hemline — an element that's also been spotted on the likes of Mandy Moore and Meghan Markle — and a drape-like front. In short, it was easy, breezy, and oh-so-beautiful.
What really set her ensemble, though, was the unexpected (albeit very welcomed) top piece: a checked blazer that features sharp shoulders and statement pockets. Rather than wearing it open or buttoned up, Kidman decided to cinch it at the waist with a black, corset-inspired belt that gave the entire outfit instant definition and a bit of hard edge.
Menswear pieces have proven their staying power time and again this season, with everything from power suits to bold-shouldered blazers cropping up on the street-style scene almost nonstop. Kidman's latest look, however, offers up a fresh way to wear the latter.
Want to add a bit of shape to an oversized blazer? Belt it. Or how about the perfect pop of color? Do so with a belt. The no-fuss styling trick is an easy way to breathe new life into the trusty jacket.
