It may be the end of April, but warm spring temperatures are nowhere to be seen in New York City. The constant changes in weather can make getting dressed in the morning difficult becuase you never know just how warmly to dress. Palermo’s striped skirt is the perfect option for when you want to dress warmly but still be prepared if the temperature rises throughout the day.

Palermo has been a street-style star since her debut appearance on MTV’s reality show, The City, almost a decade ago. But don’t let her luxe-looking wardrobe fool you. The fashion week mainstay is no stranger to mixing high-end pieces with items from more accessible brands, like Topshop. When she wore a satin bomber jacket from the brand to a show at London Fashion Week back in 2016, it sold out instantly. And if her Instagram feed is any indication, her Topshop love affair hasn't gone anywhere.

Palermo posed in a black-and-white striped midi skirt from the British fashion retailer in an Instagram photo on April 16. The high-waisted pick features a wrap-style top with a tie at the waist, a bold vertical stripe pattern, and a slit at the front. The breezy style also features a handkerchief hemline, adding tons of movement for a thrown-together yet polished look.

The former reality star looked every part the New York cool girl when she styled her skirt with opaque black tights and an embellished silk bomber jacket from Moncler. Her accessories were kept monochromatic, opting for a pair of black Nike Air Max 270 sneakers, a black micro bag from Delvaux, and a pair of oversized black square-frame sunglasses.

While last summer saw the rise of bias-cut silk midi skirts in every color under the sun, this season it's all about mixing it up, from statement prints to dramatic hemlines. Palermo's skirt features both. While she kept her pick black and white, you can also try going for something with more color.

Midi skirts are an essential to your spring wardrobe because they're so easy to style. You can pair them with a simple top and accessories like Palermo did, or style them with one of spring's biggest trends: pattern mixing. Clashing colors pair best when pulled from the same color family, as evidenced by designers like Paco Rabanne, Sacai, and Etro, who all sent mixed prints in the same palette down their Spring/Summer 2019 runways.

Sadly, Palermo's exact skirt is sold out in the black-and-white hue, but it's still available in a colorful, spring-ready option. Ahead, The Zoe Report rounded up the best striped midi skirts on the market right now, including Palermo's pick.
