Think you know which nail colors are going to be everywhere this summer? Think again. Pinterest's trending nail colors for summer 2019 are bold — and truly unexpected. The social media platform took a look at what its users were searching for in June 2019 and compared it to data from the same month last year, and a few surprises were revealed in the process.

The prime example? Searches for "lavender ombré" took the lead in June, leaping up by a head-turning 303 percent year over year. Though you probably will need to phone a friend to help achieve the ombré effect — i.e. call up your local nail salon — you can at least shop the harder-to-find lavender shade before your next appointment. Essie's shade "Go Ginza" is a creamy pale purple, and it only retails for $5.49 at Target. (Prefer a darker, cool-toned lavender polish? Try out Jin Soon's "Birdie" for $18.)

The next most-popular color Pinterest spotted is on the opposite end of the spectrum: Whereas lavender is light and dreamy, "jade nails" — which was searched 277 percent more year over year in 2019 — can be deep and dramatic, showing off the richness of the jewel tone. Fortunately for DIY nail artists, the trend is just about the color, too; no nail art required.

Naturally, neon has taken over the nail world, too. Pinterest shared that 131 percent more searches were run for "bright summer neon nails" in May of 2019, year over year; with specific trends like "neon ombré" growing by a whopping 904 percent. Not sure which color to go with? Pinterest noted that searches for "neon peach nails" specifically are up, with data revealing the trend grew by 110 percent year over year. Interestingly, Pinterest users aren't just happy with electric shades — searches for "glow nails" (aka nails that'll glow in the dark) are up by 123 percent.

And you'll be able to get your hands on both trends by shopping Cirque Colors summer 2019 collection, Vice, on the brand's website. According to the brand, the neon hues are UV reactive, so they'll be sure to pop beneath a blacklight. Pick up OPI's "Orange You a Rock Star" polish if you want to skip the glowy effect — a bottle of the long-lasting Infinite Shine formula retails at $13.

Ahead, six different on-trend nail polishes to bring to your next mani-pedi appointment.
