Pippa Middleton’s Wedding-Guest Style Is Defined By This Classic Hair Accessory
Perfecting wedding-guest style is no easy feat. But that's where seasoned nuptial attendee (and all-around style icon) Pippa Middleton comes into play. The British socialite has witnessed her fair share of "I dos" over the years, from older sister Kate Middleton's to Meghan Markle's just last year, and as such, it's no surprise that she's come up with an easy-to-follow outfit formula she turns to time and again. A printed dress, refined pumps, and statement hair accessories, like fascinators or headbands, are Pippa Middleton's wedding-guest outfit go-tos.
On May 18, just a day ahead of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's one-year wedding anniversary, Lady Gabriella Windsor officially married financier Thomas Kingston. The couple's ceremony, which was held at the St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, drew in an impressive and stylish crowd, including Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, and members of Kate Middleton's family (though the duchess herself was absent).
The duchess' younger sister, who attended with husband James Matthews, looked as divine as ever for the Sat. ceremony in a Kate Spade midi-length dress. The spring-ready frock features an all-over spade flower motif, a draped neckline, puffed long sleeves, and understated buttons along the front and shoulders.
Middleton paired the dress with coordinating blue velvet pumps, a gray suede clutch, crawler earrings, topping it all of, quite literally, with an oversized, azure-hued velvet headband that proved to be the piece de resistance of the socialite's wedding-guest ensemble.
It's no secret that headbands are back and arguably bigger than ever in 2019. The classic accessory, which is bound to conjure up thoughts of Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf, has been favored by Kate and Pippa Middleton this year, the latter of whom has made the hairpiece a mainstay in her wedding-guest looks.
As it turns out, though, the Middleton sisters also follow a simple style rule when deciding which headband to slide on. Both reach for one that's rendered in the same color as their dress. For the royal wedding on Sat., the duchess' younger sister coordinated her can't-miss hairpiece to her blue floral-print frock — a move that pulled everything together effortlessly. And in the past, the duchess herself has gone head-to-toe monochromatic, too.
It's an easy trick that's certain to make every getup, whether a casual street-style ensemble or an elegant wedding-guest outfit, appear 10 times more put together. Below, shop The Zoe Report's roundup of headbands that would easily earn the Middleton sisters' stamp of approval.
