Lily Aldridge Shares A Touching Message About Walking NYFW While Pregnant

New York Fashion Week is upon us, which means the latest and greatest trends are officially arriving. From street style celebrity looks, to the dreamiest runway shows, it's important to pay attention to detail if you want to keep up. And one of the week's most inspiring moments played out on Saturday, when a pregnant Lily Aldridge walked the Brandon Maxwell show.

The Victoria's Secret Angel — who is five months pregnant — walked the runway in a cherry-red halter gown. The dress, which featured a scooping open back, was paired with sky-high red heels to match. And as proof that the trendiest hairstyle from the Venice Film Festival has officially taken off, Aldridge's hair was slicked back into the perfect, middle-parted bun. The model's minimalistic makeup looked bronzed and glowy.

Aldridge took to social media to express her pride and excitement about the momentous occasion with a post on her Instagram. While she has walked many runways throughout her career, Aldridge described this one as "a moment I'll look back on forever with great emotion."

As a nod to Maxwell, Aldridge added, "Thank you Brandon for letting [me] shine & being such a true gentleman, Love you FOREVER!!"

Aldridge recalled her fellow models rallying behind her with love and support before she hit the runway. "It was so much fun being backstage will all the girls, everyone was so uplifting and rubbing my belly celebrating this beautiful journey with me," she wrote.

Alongside Aldridge, models like Gigi Hadid and Taylor Hill were notable parts of the show, which took place at the Classic Car Club Manhattan at Pier 76. Maxwell paid homage to his home state of Texas, by creating a colorful, glamorous event suited for the south.

The runway was filled with shades of pink and red, accompanied by dresses with satin finishes and drapey silhouettes. The importance of family was represented in yet another way during the show — Maxwell brought his grandmother out for his final bow (wearing a custom-designed red suit, of course).

Aldridge is expecting her second child with her husband Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon — and this isn't her first time gracing the runway as an expectant mother. In 2011, the 32-year-old walked the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show while pregnant with her first child. In fact, a handful of Victoria's Secret Angels have appeared on the runway while expecting, including Irina Shayk and Alessandra Ambrosio.

This week's intersection of motherhood and fashion is reminiscent of the Sports Illustrated Swim Search Show in Florida earlier this summer, when Mara Martin walked the runway while breastfeeding her then five-month-old daughter. "I’m so grateful to be able to share this message and hopefully normalize breastfeeding and also show others that women can do it all," Martin wrote on Instagram following the show.

She continued, "But to be honest, the real reason I can’t believe it is a headline is because it shouldn’t be a headline!!! My story of being a mother and feeding her while walking is just that."
