Rachel Zoe is widely known for her exquisite fashion sense, thanks to her successful styling portfolio (including but not limited to Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson), namesake collection, and her Box Of Style. Lately, however, the entrepreneur is branching into the beauty world via her latest collaboration with cosmetics brand LORAC. Considering her love for all things glamorous, it's no surprise her first makeup venture was inspired by the glitzy looks she depends on during the holiday season. In speaking with the style guru, it's clear Zoe has some crucial makeup tips and knowledge to bring to the table, in addition to her sartorial prowess.

At a recent Macy's event in NYC celebrating her LORAC launch, Zoe told TZR her approach to holiday makeup is not unlike that of her holiday attire. "I never get sick of a glittery smoky eye — that's my go-to," she explained. "Especially since I wear even more sparkly metallics during the holidays and black, of course, I find that I'm constantly doing a smoky eye or some kind of golden glitter look with winged liquid liner." To give the look extra smolder, she opts for a dark charcoal or chocolate brown along the lower lash line. "I don't want just a harsh stick line, so I like to subtly smoke it out."

If a smoky eye is up your alley for the holiday season, Zoe recommends the Black Tie Palette. However, for those who aren't sure how to pull off the intense look, she explains there's no step-by-step process, it can go anyway you please. "There is no set method, you can do full on gun metal and glitter, or some do more of a deep green because they are scared of the dark charcoal situation." If the smoky look isn't your cup of tea, no worries. Go for more of a subtle, everyday eye (that still has a hint of glam) with the Effortless Glamour Palette. "It's nice to have the matte situation, then you can put shimmer over it, or you can use the blush pink shade alone — that's really nice for daytime use," Zoe notes.

With the eyes taken care of, it's time to move on to making the skin glowy and radiant. With decades of being in the spotlight, Zoe has spent a fair amount of time in the makeup seat and picked up a tip or two. To achieve that fresh, dewy look she's mastered, it's all about prepping your complexion. "I have dry skin so I like to use face oil and put a drop in with my foundation, or just before I put foundation on," Zoe explains.

And she's conscious of the eye area, too. "I also like to put a little eye cream under my concealer so it doesn't dry out — I hate that," she says. Another little makeup trick comes in handy on days the entrepreneur and mother of two is feeling extra tired. "I love to put a little gold, white, or silver in the corner of my eyes, because I'm always tired so it opens them up a little bit."

In addition to her glamorous holiday beauty routine, Zoe says her outfit formulas during this time are just as glitzy. "My uniform, especially this time of year, is always some kind of black trouser, wide leg or flare, with some sort of blazer or jacket," Zoe notes. "I'm always in heels and carrying a crossbody bag or big tote — and then a good sweater or button-up underneath." To wrap things up, she'll throw on some jewelry, of course.
