Reformation *Finally* Has Its Own Shoe Collection (Complete With The Coolest Pair Of Flip-Flops)
Fashion girls everywhere, put your hands together and give a big, warm welcome to the only shoe line you need this summer. No, seriously. Just in time for the hottest season of the year, one of the style set's most beloved brands has brought an entirely new category to its consumers — and it's one that's been hotly anticipated for what feels like ages. That's right, Reformation's shoe collection is finally here, and it's safe to say it was well worth the wait. Look no further for the styles you'll want to wear on repeat all season.
May 9, 2019 will go down in history as the day that cult-loved eco-conscious brand Reformation officially welcomed shoes into the fold. After all, the sustainable store's avid shoppers (which include Kendall Jenner) have been clamoring for the addition of shoes to its categories of offerings basically since the birth of the brand in 2009. So, forever in fashion years.
Hyperbolic statements aside, Reformation's anticipated foray into footwear is incredibly exciting — and couldn't be better timed considering summer's quick approach. That's because the inaugural collection includes 11 warm weather-ready styles priced at $128 and up, and just like the rest of Reformation's categories, they're crafted from sustainable materials. The new shoe collection leans on chrome-free leather and jute for its styles, and as a result saves an average of 52 percent on CO2 emissions, 70 percent on water, and 65 percent on waste (as compared to the majority of other shoes purchased in the States).
The 11 styles range from woven jute espadrilles to vegetable-tanned leather strappy sandals to sweet suede flats, but one common thread unites them all; they're made for those hot (read: sweaty) summer days when you want to wear less, so you need every item you sport to say more. All of Reformation's shoes do just that, while maintaining an overall sleek, minimalist vibe with just the right amount of feminine charm.
Take the Menage Sandal, for one. The $198 style combines cool details like a block heel, three thin straps across the front, and a sleek rounded toe that makes it easy to pair with anything. You could call the shoe a basic staple style, save for the fact that it comes in three incredibly cool colors: metallic gold, bright white, and grass green. Wear these when you need to take simple outfits up a notch, without overwhelming the whole look.
And if you love a statement shoe, look no further than the collection's strappy heeled creations, like the cool '90s-inspired kitten-heel Caroline Sandal, $198, braided leather Porto Sandal, $218, and the square-toed Isabelle Sandal, $198, The former comes in black and proves that the heeled flip flop is officially back, while the latter two styles come in black, red, or white leather and offer that sexy skin-baring vibe you'll want this summer. Or, lean in a classic direction with Reformation's take on the timeless espadrille, offered with a heel via the Camille Espadrille, $158 or as a flat, backyard barbecue-ready style in the Lily Espadrille, $128.
Thanks to Reformation's debut shoe collection, you've got a lot of options for footwear this summer — and by the way, new silhouettes will be added each month so there's more where those came from.
