Rihanna's All-White Outfit Was Definitely A Risky Move, But So Worth It
Two major sports events are currently underway, and while said gatherings may not be quite as fashion-focused as well, Fall 2019 Paris Couture Week, the sartorial inspiration from the spectators on the benches has been especially strong. Kate Middleton rocked the chicest white dress for a recent Wimbledon outing, while Rihanna, sticking with the all-white theme, wore a bold outfit to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 that proved she's all for taking a major style risk. Did you really expect anything else from the fearless tastemaker, though?
Rihanna has been quite keen to monochrome dressing as of late. On June 21, she arrived at the Fenty Pop-Up Shop at The Webster wearing a fuchsia Fenty mini dress with hot-pink pumps to match. Then, she walked the 2019 BET Awards red carpet in an all-black, all-leather combo consisting of an oversized, belted blazer and skin-tight pants. But the designer's latest (successful) attempt at one-tone dressing is quite possibly her best yet, not only because it's a tad bit more warm-weather friendly than the others, but because it was bold and risky in all the right ways.
Rihanna was photographed avidly taking in the July 1 cricket match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies from a pavilion box balcony at Emirates Riverside in England. She looked the epitome of summertime perfection for the outing, sporting a white crop top and loose-fitting white trousers. The tastemaker topped off the all-white base with Fenty's best-selling corset blazer dress — also in a crisp white hue — which she chose to wear unbuttoned as a jacket.
No Rihanna getup is complete without a handful of cool-girl essentials. For the July 1 event, she accessorized the all-white base with stacked gold necklaces, white sneakers, and a pair of Fenty techno mask sunglasses that were futuristic perfection. The singer sported her newly-unveiled box braids and a bright-red lip that popped. Well done, Rihanna.
Sure, all-white can be a risky style move — especially if you're worried about spills — but as Rihanna proves so clearly, it's a risk you'll want to take a least once this summer.
