You may still be thinking about all the glamorous dresses from the Golden Globes earlier this month, but the stars are already on to the next major show. Switching gears (almost) entirely, the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards looks were completely unexpected. Falling between the Globes and the Oscars, this ceremony tends to bring more playful ensembles from celebrities, and the best 15 outfits of the night are certainly proof

Held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Jan. 12, the awards show delivered an array of standout looks tangerine being the most popular color trend of the night. Popping up on multiple A-list nominees like, Rachel Brosnahan and Alison Brie, the bright shade of orange was also seen on the winner for Best Actress, Laura Dern, who wore a halter-neck style by Emilia Wickstead.

The creamsicle color wasn't the only vibrant shade to make waves; Zendaya's eye-catching fuchsia look was all over Instagram, too, and for good reason. The Euphoria star looked radiant in a chrome breastplate and matching maxi-skirt from Tom Ford. The bright color trend continued with Olivia Wilde's coral Valentino puff-sleeve dress and Awkwafina's yellow floor-sweeping Elie Saab gown.

Another color that proved to be popular for this event was mint green — spotted on both Lucy Hale and Billy Porter. Hale dazzled in a Miu Miu frock that featured pearl and crystal adornments, while Porter accessorized his custom, shoulder-baring ensemble with hand-painted butterfly tattoos.

Of course, what would any awards show be without some sparkle? And, the celebs certainly did not disappoint when it came to this ceremony. Anne Hathaway shined in a plunging Versace gown and Charlize Theron looked sleek in a shimmering Celine dress. Meanwhile, Florence Pugh showed out once again, proving that she's one to watch out for, as the Little Women actress looked divine in a Prada creation.
