The 2019 Met Gala Beauty Looks That Have Our Group Chat Buzzing
I've got something to admit: before the 2019 Met Gala, I Googled "What is camp fashion?" no less than 20 times. But now that the pink carpet is unrolled and the stars are emerging, I totally get it. Most of the 2019 Met Gala beauty looks embody that theme, Camp: Notes On Fashion, completely. Now, granted... special attention should be paid to the gowns and ensembles, from legendary houses like Gucci, Chanel, Valentino, and Louis Vuitton. But the hard-working hairstylists and makeup artists deserve the accolades, too! Often times, the talented pros are right along with the designers as they plan the star's look from head to toe.
Lady Gaga's blinged-out lashes, done by Sarah Tanno, gave fans all of the Fame Monster feels they desired. Lupita Nyong'o's Afro was accented with gold spray painted combs. And let's not forget Kacey Musgraves, who was every bit the real life Barbie. It does't matter if you're big on hair, particularly passionate about lipstick, or if you're a manicure obsessive through-and-through... there's a look for everyone. At least, there's one for each of The Zoe Report's editors. The entire team can't stop swooning over the most stunning hair and makeup looks, below... and I have a feeling that you will, too.
Kacey Musgraves
"I've loved Kacey Musgraves since day one, and I think her style sense has always been so fun, whimsical and quintessentially her. While channeling Barbie, this look still feels very authentic, lighthearted, and fun!" — Angela Melero, Senior West Coast Editor
Elle Fanning
"It's hard to pick just one beauty look as a favorite from the night, but Elle's takes the prize for me. From the hairstyle to the nails, everything about it was perfect and so much fun." — Anna Buckman, Shopping News Editor
Yara Shahidi
"I've been loving the above-eyelash eyeliner looks we've been seeing this year. However, it only occurred to me to extend the line under my eye after I saw Yara Shahidi's bedazzled liner." — Madge Maril, writer
Lucy Boynton
"If you take a peek at Lucy Boynton's red carpet looks, she's the queen of romance... and she did not disappoint for the Met Gala. The pastel blue hair felt like an edgy departure from her blonde locks, but what really caught my eye were the rhinestones around her eyes. It was all so good!" — Dale Chong, writer
Hailee Steinfeld
"I never thought to work green shadow into my beauty routine, but Hailee Steinfeld has officially convinced me to try it this season. Paired with a toned-down pink lip and a bow hair accessory, the singer’s beauty look was perfectly playful and fun, but still wearable on a day-to-day basis. I’ll definitely be trying it this summer." — Eva Thomas, writer
Lupita Nyong'o
"I'm sure that my fellow teammates probably grew tired of me asking 'IS LUPITA HERE YET?!' every time someone refreshed Getty. But the mounting anticipation was worth it. Nick Barose and Vernon François, Nyong'o's dream team, absolutely nailed this look from fro-to-toe. François drew inspo from Marie Antoinette and a portrait by Lauren Kelley called 'Pickin,'' and Barose used Lancôme products to transform his client into a 'drag doll.' I'm 100 percent making this my phone screensaver." — Khalea Underwood, Beauty Editor
Lizzo
"Lizzo’s look was so perfectly over the top. From the hot pink wig and coordinated makeup to the pearl details in her hair (and on her hands!), this look was just the right amount of extra." — Aemilia Madden, Senior Fashion Editor
Lily Collins
"Stepping onto the pink carpet with sky-high, floral-embellished waves, violet lids, and fierce lashes, Lily Collins embodied the great Priscilla Presley on her wedding day (white gown and all). Any sucker for vintage would have recognized the iconic bridal look right off the bat." — Olivia Young, writer
Gemma Chan
"Gemma Chan can do no wrong when it comes to red carpet style, so it’s no surprise the actor showed up to the Met Gala in such a stunning look. Her neutral lip and icy lids were the ultimate compliment to her glitzy ensemble." — Ruby Buddemeyer, Associate News Editor
