Everything You Need To Know About The 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (Spoiler: The Lineup Is So Good)
Each fall, dozens of winged-clad Angels walk the runway dressed in lingerie. Victoria's Secret fans will tell you it's the most important (and secretive) show of the year. On Thurs. morning, details for the 2018 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show were finally announced — here's everything you need to know.
Since its inception 23 years ago, Victoria's Secret's annual presentation has accumulated a cult-like following. While most catwalk shows cost about $1 million, Harper's Bazaar says that Victoria's Secret's glittering spectacle costs 12 times as much. With 800 million annual viewers, it's the most-watched fashion event of the year. This Nov., people in every corner of the country will once again gather around their television sets not just to admire the latest lingerie trends, but to sing along with the performers and discuss the most over-the-top, bejeweled costumes.
The details for the runway extravaganza are traditionally kept under wraps until the last minute, and this year is no different. But on Thurs., the brand released the much-anticipated musical lineup, Angels in attendance, and everything else you need to know about the 2018 show. You should go ahead and block out the date in your calendar now, because you won't want to miss Rita Ora, Halsey, and the return of a fan-favorite model, too.
The Date
Mark your calendar for Dec. 2. The 2018 show will air a bit later than it has in previous years. While the live show will take place on Nov. 8, it has historically been pre-taped and doesn't actually air on television until weeks later. Is it too early to set the DVR? If not, you'll find the long-awaited Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on ABC at 10 p.m. on Dec. 2. And if you don't have cable, fear not: you can catch it conveniently online on the CBS All Access website and app, or on Hulu Live.
The Venue
After a two-year hiatus abroad, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will return this year to where it all began: New York City. The 2017 show took place in Shanghai and the year before that, Paris, but the brand's decision to bring it back to U.S. soil could have something to do with reports of the models being denied visas the previous year.
The Lineup
Great news for fans of the Victoria's Secret veteran who's been on hiatus for far too long: Behati Prinsloo is making a comeback in 2018. The model has taken the past two years off due to being pregnant with her two children with musician Adam Levine, but is slated to sport her wings again this year. Other staples of the show, including pals Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, are expected to make a return after not attending last year. Keep an eye out for your favorite regulars, too: Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel (who had her second child in May), and Sara Sampaio.
The Performers
As iconic as the costumes are, some people tune in specifically for the performers. In years past, top musicians like Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, and Kanye West have performed on the runway. This year, Bebe Rexha, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Kelsea Ballerini, Rita Ora, Shawn Mendes, and The Struts will be providing the soundtrack to the show.
