This $13 Eye Cream Gave Vanessa Hudgens Glowing Skin — Here’s How
Although highlighter is often the go-to strategy for creating a glowing complexion, the secret to dewy skin starts at the very beginning of your beauty routine. Yes, prepping your skin before applying makeup is arguably one of the most important steps to achieving a dewy complexion. Vanessa Hudgens' latest makeup look proves that great skincare products don't have to break bank, because her makeup artist revealed her secret to incredible skin: drugstore eye cream.
Celebrity makeup artist Allan Avendaño took to Instagram on Wed. to share his latest creation on Hudgens. Avendaño, who is known for working with other big names like Jenna Dewan and Ashley Graham, tells The Zoe Report via email that he prepped the actor's skin with a $13 eye cream by popular drugstore brand Neutrogena.
Neutrogena's lightweight, creamy formula is a cult-favorite in the beauty world — and with good reason. “The eye cream really moisturizes that under-eye area so that when you put concealer on top of it, it melts into the skin,” Avendaño explains. “It makes it so much easier to blend without any gaping due to dry, under-eye areas.”
Avendaño didn't stop with the eye cream when it came to drugstore finds — he finished off Hudgens' skin prep with Neutrogena's Ultra-Gentle Oil-Free Moisturizer. "Vanessa tends to have oilier skin, so I wanted to use an oil-free moisturizer that hydrates the skin and works well under makeup," he says.
Avendaño kept with the dewy theme by applying a natural-looking blush with a fan brush. "I find that a fan brush distributes color more evenly and sheer," he explains. "I then add powder highlighter on top of the blush to diffuse the color. I also dust translucent powder in areas where I want to further diffuse the blush, like the sides of the nose."
Thanks to Avendaño's straight-forward product breakdown, experimenting with this look yourself is easy and affordable. Ahead, shop the exact products Avendaño used to create Hudgens' glowing skin.
