Glamour Announces Women of the Year Honorees

by Cary Spitzer

For the past 25 years, Glamour has celebrated its girl power with its Women of the Year Awards. Next month, the magazine’s star-studded event will take place at Carnegie Hall in New York City, but since no one can keep a secret that long, the honorees have already been announced. The diverse cadre of women includes such no-brainers as the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, which won the World Cup in a close fight against Japan this past summer, and Elizabeth Holmes, the youngest self-made billionaire in the world.

Rounding out the list of honorees are Reese Witherspoon, whose lifestyle site Draper James just opened its first store, designer and mother-of-four Victoria Beckham, the women of Charleston, South Carolina, Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards, ground-breaking ballerina Misty Copeland and Caitlyn Jenner. That last name is causing quite a bit of controversy, since many believe the Olympian and reality star has only been a woman since she officially announced her gender transition this past July.

Amy Schumer will host the awards ceremony—which might be the part we most anticipate—and past honorees Madeleine Albright, Billie Jean King, Samantha Power and Serena Williams will be celebrated as well. This event is always brings out celebrities’ fashion finest, so we cannot wait to see who presents, speaks and attends and what they all wear.
