by Laura Lajiness Kaupke

Let’s be real, there are only so many dresses, jumpsuits and sparkly numbers. At some point, they all begin to blur together. Think separates you wouldn’t have thought to assemble, a dressier take on denim or even bold colors not usually associated with the holidays. Ahead, we lay out three outfits for when you want to shake things up.

Mix Up Your Holiday Look

Dressed Up Denim

A velvet blazer is quintessential holiday. We're for a printed version to take it one step further, teamed with jeans for nonchalant chic. Velvet heels are at once complementary and unexpected in a coordinating shade picked from the pattern. Delicate earrings and a minibag with a gold chain are subtle accents.

Surprising Separates

A shimmering bodysuit and flowing wide-leg trousers are a festive choice for more formal occasions. Skip silver or gold accessories in favor of rose as an unexpected touch. Black lace-up sandals are extra special with velvet ties and feather trim.

Refreshingly Feminine

The holidays needn’t be all red, green and metallic shades. Stand out in a multi-colored skirt with a bit of sheen and an off-the-shoulder knit to temper. Strappy heels, dainty hoop earrings and a beaded pouch keep it feminine.
